It is useful for persons confined to wheelchairs to be able to engage and disengage an auxiliary device which, in combination with arm movements for driving the chair forwards, maintains the blood circulation in the legs. This has been achieved by means of the fact that drive wheels 8 are mounted on bearings 5 secured to the frame 2, and coupling between drive wheels and cam discs 3 takes place via a wheel 7, by means of the fact that a disc 6 can be engaged or disengaged between drive wheels and cam discs and, upon movement of the chair by way of lever arms 1, is rotatably mounted in clamps 4 which raise and lower the foot rests 12 simultaneously or alternately, and by means of the fact that the cam discs can be changed and give the foot rests varying impulses. <IMAGE> |
