PURPOSE:To obtain a light-weight low-noise platen roller by providing a non- foamed hard urethane resin skin layer formed on the external circumference of a hard foamed urethane resin layer of an independent foam structure and a shaft core with divided parts, wherein at least two of which are connected with said hard foamed urethane resin layer in the range of a coated area range. CONSTITUTION:A platen roller is composed of a hard foamed urethane resin layer 2 having foaming multiplication of 2.0-4.5 and Shore hardness D at the time of non-foaming of 50-80 and 0.15-2.0mm hard urethane resin skin layer sequentially coated on the external circumference of a metal shaft 6. The metal shaft 6 is divided at 2-3 points in the area range coated by hard foamed urethane resin layer on the external circumference of said shaft 6. Thus the weight of the platen roller is light and its noise is kept at low level. In addition, the result of printing test on the roller is satisfactory and a drive motor is miniaturized because of the realization of a light-weight platen roller. Further, an installation base is reduced and a motor noise is muffled. |
