APD MODULE FOR OPTICAL WAVELENGTH MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION

PURPOSE:To obtain a miniaturized APD module while fulfilling the same function as a conventional device by providing a wavelength separation film to a photodetecting plane of a photodetector APD and converting only an optical signal with a prescribed length into electric signal. CONSTITUTION:An optical signal of wavelength lambda1 and an optical signal of wavelength lambda2 are sent through an optical fiber cable 1, the signals are branched into two; one is given to an optical wavelength multiple communication APD module 7 and the other enters an optical wavelength multiple communication APD module 8. The APD module 7 consists of a wavelength separation film 7a and the APD 7b and the wave length separating film 7a is fitted to the photodetecting plane of the APD 7b. The optical wavelength multiplex communication APD module 8 consists similarly of the wavelength separation film 8a and the APD 8b and the wavelength separating film 8a is fitted to the photodetecting plane of the APD 8b. The wavelength separation film 7a separates and extracts only the optical signal of wavelength lambda1 from the optical signal of the wavelength lambda1 and the optical signal of the wavelength lambda2, and the wavelength separation 8a extracts and separates only the optical signal of wave length lambda2 from the optical signal comprising of the wavelength lambda2 and the wavelength lambda1.
