PURPOSE:To provide a control unit of an air conditioner capable of continuing its operation as it is even when only a remote control unit supplied with power from an air conditioner is reset and initialized upon instantaneous interruption of service by carrying out transmission and receiving data based on a signal added with a signal initialized after resetting. CONSTITUTION:During the operation of the air conditioner 1, when an instantaneous interruption of service in such a degree that only control means 5 of a remote controller 2 is initialized and initialization data is set to '0000' and the remote controller 2 is set at the operation stop mode and an operation stop mode is set on the remote controller 2 and the data is output to the air conditioner through an input and output terminal I/O. The control means 4 of the air conditioner 1 receives a transmission signal from the remote controller 2. In a case where the initialization data is not '0000', the user was to manually stop the operation of the air conditioner 1, and hence he stops the operation of the air conditioner in accordance with the receiving data. In a case where the initialization data is '0000' and the air conditioner is being operated in a certain operational mode, the received data is ignored, and continues to operate as it is and transmits the operation condition data of the present air conditioner 1 to the remote controller 2.
