PURPOSE:To obtain an electromagnetic valve type pressure converting device which has superior durability and may attain suitable pressure converting, by defining a predetermined clearance between a valve and a seat arranged in opposed relation to each other when a driving pressure is not applied. CONSTITUTION:The pressure converting device comprises a diaphragm 31, a valve 20 fixed to the diaphragm 31, a seat 32 arranged in opposition to the valve 20, a compression spring 30 for biasing the valve 20 in a direction such that the valve 20 is separated from the seat 32, a core 29 adapted to be magnetized by an electromagnetic coil 25, a plunger 26 adapted to urge the valve 20 by the magnetization in a direction such that the valve 20 is closed, and a return spring 24 for preventing excessive separation of the plunger 26 from the core 29. When a pulse signal having a sufficiently short period T is supplied from a pulse generator 23 to the electromagnetic coil 25, the plunger 26 stops in a predetermined position. Therefore, the part of the plunger 26 and the core 29 and the part of the valve 20 and the seat 32 are in a separated condition in a steady state, thereby widely improving durability.
