PURPOSE:To utilize a medium other than voice by facilitating the initial setting of a content of a message/identifier storage means storing correspondence between an identifier and a message. CONSTITUTION:In a telephone terminal equipment 1, a rewritable storage means is used as a message/identifier storage means 4. At the application of power to an exchange 3, when a new telephone set or the like is connected to a system comprised of an exchange 3 and the content of the message/identifier storage means 5 in the exchange 3 has a change, the content of the means 5 in the exchange 3 is transferred to the storage means 4 in a telephone terminal equipment 4. Thus, in using an identifier for the communication of a message, even when the message has a change or a new terminal equipment is connected or a telephone set is in use, it is not required to change the storage means in the telephone terminal equipment.
