PURPOSE:To obtain a shape memory alloy excelling in shape memorizability, corrosion resistance, and hot workability by incorporating specific percentage of Mn, Si, Cr, Ni, Co, Mo, C, Al, and Cu to Fe. CONSTITUTION:The shape memory alloy consisting or, by weight, 20-40% Mn, 3.5-8% Si, <=10% Cr, <=10% Ni, <=10% Co, <=2% Mo, <=1% of 1 or >=2 kinds among C, Al, and Cu, and the balance essentially Fe is prepared. In this way, the shape memory alloy having high strength and high toughness can be manufactured by use of the relatively inexpensive alloy system.
