PURPOSE:To enable the column joining without giving the adverse effect to the separation performance or the like by removing the coated material of an end part of a capillary column with an acid and the electrolytic etching, mechanically or thermally and thereafter giving a cutting flaw to an exposed part to cut it. CONSTITUTION:A coated material 4 such as metal of a capillary column 1 is removed by such a means that an end part 2 to be cut of the capillary column 1 performed with the coated material 4 is immersed in an etching soln. 3 such as hydrochloric acid. A cutting flaw 5 is given on an exposed part 1a of the column removed from the coated material 4 by means of a carbide cutter or the like and the part is cut with the stress break by giving the external force F e.g. the bending stress due to the curvature of 50-100 times of an outside diameter of the column. Still more as the removal of the coated material, a proper means such as an acid or the electrolytic etching, a mechanical means or the heating is used in accordance with the material (e.g. a resin such as silicon and polyimide, metal or the like).
