PURPOSE:To retrieve a program and a path for processing file data at a high speed by extracting only the relation between the file data and program and performing the retrieval by a data processing system. CONSTITUTION:The relation between the program 3a and input file data 4a and the relation between the program 3a and output file data 4b are extracted firstly in relation extraction processing and then stored in a relation storage file 5. Similarly, processing programs 3b-3n are stored in the file 5. Then, a retrieval program is used to retrieve the file 5 and a program regarding the input file data is detected.
