PURPOSE:To form an image with high accuracy in a relatively short period by using plural kinds of beams with different size. CONSTITUTION:Suppose that the system of a block 2 corresponds to a beam having a relatively small diameter. The modulated laser beam is led to beam expanders 1061 1062 to expand the diameter and in this case, the magnification of the beam expander 1062 is set larger than that of the beam expander 1062. The laser beam from the beam expander is led to a scanning optical system 108 as a beam whose optical axis is made coincident by a reflecting mirror 1072 and a beam an transluscent mirror 1071. The scanning optical system is a normal optical system comprising a rotary polygoon mirror and an f-theta lens. The laser beam given with the linear scanning function is collected on a photosensitive-medium 112 on a moving stand 111 moving in the direction of arrow 110 via the reflecting mirror 109, and becomes two kinds of picture elements arranged on a two-dimension face to form a prescribed image.
