发明名称 DISTRIBUTION TYPE OPTICAL FIBER TEMPERATURE SENSOR
摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To measure temperature changes in a high temperature area at a high accuracy, by making an optical pulse incident at one end of an optical fiber containing a doped quartz glass core having HO groups replacing structural defects to detect variations in the intensity of the back scattered light. CONSTITUTION:Quartz-based glass able to withstand a high temperature area is employed as optical fiber material and OH is made to replace structural defects of a quartz-based glass core to produce a high OH optical fiber beforehand intentionally utilizing the infiltration of OH into a quartz-based core glass from a high water content quartz glass in a cover layer and an outermost layer composing an optical fiber as usually seen when placed in a high temperature area. An optical pulse is made incident into the optical fiber thus obtained to detect changes in the intensity of the back scattered light. To protect the optical fiber, a heat resistant cover layer able to withstand a high temperature area is provided thereon. The wavelength used of the incident optical pulse shall be 0.6-0.7mum or 0.75-0.85mum. Thus, changes in the temperature in a high temperature area can be measured at a high accuracy.</p>
