PURPOSE:To allow an exchange to rewrite automatically a data corresponding to a terminal equipment by sending a terminal equipment identification number from the terminal equipment to the exchange when a multi-function key telephone set is moved from a place to other. CONSTITUTION:In reconnecting the multi-function key telephone set connected to a telephone line 109A to a telephone line 109B (movement of the location of a terminal equipment A to the location of a terminal equipment B), the exchange recognizes that the telephone set is removed from the port of PN=1 and connected to the port of PN=2. An identification number sending request is sent from the exchange to the port of PN=2 and a CPU 125 in the telephone set sends the identification number stored in a RAM 156 to the exchange as a control data. The identification number is received by a CPU 37 at the exchange side and the data corresponding to the terminal equipment stored in a memory 41 is rewritten.
