PURPOSE:To obtain a dehydrated cake with low moisture content, by calculating sludge concn. and the index of sludge properties on the basis of the measured value of the colloid charge quantity of sludge and controlling an operational condition on the basis of calculated values. CONSTITUTION:The colloid charge quantity of sludge is measured. The measured value is useful as the index for controlling the charge neutralization and adsorbing action of sludge and a flocculant. The concn. of sludge is calculated on the basis of said measured value and a sludge supply amount and a flocculant supply amount are calculated. Further, the optimum number of rotations of a stirrer is calculated and the determination of pressure to be applied is performed. By this method, an operational condition can be properly controlled with respect to the variation in the concn. of sludge and sludge properties.
