PURPOSE:To perform back surface painting such that the effect of the vibration and lateral shaking of the thin metal mountings in a drying oven is not exerted on the back surface painting, by sucking a long metal plate after front and back surface painting by a suction apparatus to run the same in a curved state. CONSTITUTION:A long metal plate S is passed to a back surface painting roll 3 while closely contacted with the outer peripheral surface of a receiving roll 1 and run to the drying oven of a succeeding process. The metal plate S is run in a state closely contacted with the receiving roll 1 by a surface painting roll 2 and the shape thereof is corrected to well perform the coating of a paint. At the position of the back surface painting roll 3, the metal plate S is sucked and drawn down through a vacuum housing 5 by a fan 6 so as to increase the contact angle of said plate S in the direction of the back surface painting roll 3. By this method, the running shape of the metal plate S comes to a curve state and wavy wrinkles generated to the metal plate S are corrected by running tension.
