<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound having improved physical properties in connection with other materials, with simple process, by heat-treating a polyfumaric acid diester obtained by the polymerization of fumaric acid diester, thereby introducing reactive -COOH group to the polymer. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula III is produced by 91) polymerizing the fumaric acid diester of formula I (R is 1-12C alkyl, 3-12C cycloalkyl or organic residue having aromatic ring) at 20-100 deg.C in the presence of a radical initiator to obtain a polyfumaric acid diester of formula II (n is integer) having a number-average molecular weight of 1,000-200,000, and (2) heat-treating the polymer in an atmosphere of e.g. N2, at 150-300 deg.C for 1-30min. EFFECT:The obtained substance has improved adhesivity, heat-resistance, and rigidity, etc. The wettability of the substance with inorganic materials can be improved and the substance can be converted to an ionomer by the reaction with metallic salt. Since the substance is reactive with crosslinking agent and a desired polymer having various molecular weight can be produced by this process, the product can be use in various uses.</p> |
