The present invention describes a wall covering device which can be fastened to the external face of existing walls, which combines the benefits of external insulation and a solar collecting system with the storage of heat in the mass of the wall, as in the case of "Trombe walls". The capacity for performing this double function is the feature of the invention which is characterised by the juxtaposition of a transparent covering, preferably made of cellular plastic 1, of an insulating panel 3 combining the role of absorber 2 and of separating the space trapped under the covering into two regions, one on the covering side, the other on the wall side, connected by orifices 4 and 5 allowing a thermosyphon air movement to be established and the wall to be heated in the insulation period of the absorber, a non-return flap valve 8 preventing the reverse thermosyphon by night, which would be a source of heat losses. A reflecting strip device situated in the region of the absorber returns solar radiation towards the outside in the summer to avoid overheating the wall 9. <IMAGE>
