The heating boiler is intended for solid fuels and consists of a housing with combustion chamber and smoke gas offtake, the combustion chamber walls being provided with a refractory lining and the combustion chamber being connected to a downstream heating surface. In order to improve the primary air supply with regard to a preheating and also better afflux distribution in relation to the glowing bed, the heating boiler is designed in such a manner that the refractory lining (1), with the adjacent housing wall (4), encloses in the lower region (2) of the horizontally oriented combustion chamber (3) a primary air inflow space (5). This space (5) is provided over at least a part of its length with openings (6) in the lining (1), which are directed into the lower region (2) of the combustion chamber (3). <IMAGE>
