PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of turning round upon change-over of forward and reverse running of a push boat and changing of a connecting position of a tug boat to thereby improve running efficiency of a barge, by providing retractable skegs at the bottoms of a bow and a stern of the barge. CONSTITUTION:Retractable skegs 1 rotatable about shafts 5 are provided in recesses 4 of cut-up parts 3 at front and rear portions on right and left sides of a hull of a full-open type soil carrying barge 2, for example. The rotation of the skegs 1 is effected by lifting wires 6 wound through pulleys 7 about winches 8. It is not necessary to carry out turning round of the barge upon change-over of forward and reverse running of a push boat or changing of a connecting position of a tug boat. The barge may be moved to a target area by elevating or lowering the skegs and moving the push boat or the tug boat. Thus, running efficiency of the barge may be improved.
