PURPOSE:To prevent hole blocking of a nozzle and its reverse flow or the like, by shielding the point end of the nozzle, which injects oxidizing agent gas, by an alkaline metal, in the case of a combustion device placing the alkaline metal in a melted condition to perform its combustion by injecting the oxidizing agent gas. CONSTITUTION:A combustion device, when it performs combustion of an alkaline metal 5 in a combustion chamber 1, first ignites a starting heat generating agent 6, inserted into said alkaline metal 5, by an ignition cable 7. In this way, the heat generating agent 6, being heated, heats the alkaline metal 5 to be melted. Here a point end part 3a of an oxidizing agent gas injection nozzle 3 is spaced from the heat generating agent 6 and shielded by an alkaline metal 5'. And the alkaline metal 5', being melted and absorbing high temperature heat generated by said heat generating agent 6, protects said point end part 3a from the heat generated by the heat generating agent 6. Thereafter, the combustor, injecting the oxidizing agent gas from the injection nozzle 3 into the combustion chamber 1 and inducing the reaction of Li as the alkaline metal 5 and SF6 as the oxidizing agent gas in the combustion chamber 1, obtains thermal energy.
