Ceramic components are joined by a layer of a joining agent applied to the abutment areas, and the layer is sintered. In order to enable the joining of the components to be carried out in a simple manner, the layer 6 is applied to a carrier 5. The latter consists of a material which burns off at temperatures below the sintering temperature. The carrier 5 with the dry layer 6 is inserted between the components 1, 2 and 3 and then exposed to the sintering temperature. <IMAGE>
