Method of crimping in particular for the fastening of a lid (2) onto a packing container (1) of plastics material, consisting in forcing a raised portion (6) into a depressed portion (5), superimposing the lid and the container while causing the depressed and raised portions to mate for tightly interlocking the lid and the container, these portions having substantially identical in particular groove-shaped profiles, the said raised portion having dimensions slightly higher or lower than the dimensions of the depressed portion, characterized in that the raised portions (6) and the depressed portions (5) are given the profile of an open loop the narrow part of which is located at the level of the lid and container surfaces, so as to make possible an elongation and a shrinking in succession of the raised and depressed portions of the lid and of the container facilitating the crimping and a tight interlocking.
