In an automatic readjusting device arranged between a housing (5) and a longitudinally displaceable but non-rotatable wheel-cylinder piston (7) of a hydraulic brake-actuating device, a readjusting spindle (3) and a readjusting sleeve (4) in screw-thread engagement with the latter is provided, the thread of which sleeve acts in a manner free from self-locking in the direction of screwing apart when an axial force is applied. The wheel-cylinder piston (7) guided in longitudinally displaceable and non-rotatable fashion in the wheel-cylinder bore (6) of the housing (5) interacts via a ratchet or a free-wheel (8) with the readjusting sleeve (4), the readjusting sleeve (4) having a collar (9) which extends radially outwards and by which it rests, on the one hand, against a projection or back-up ring (10) which is arranged in the longitudinal bore (18) of the piston (7) and extends inwards and is supported, on the other hand, on a step (20) of the longitudinal bore (18) of the wheel-cylinder piston (7). When the wheel-cylinder piston (7) is subjected to hydraulic pressure, it takes the readjusting sleeve (4) along with it in the actuating direction and the readjusting sleeve (4) unscrews from the rotationally fixed readjusting spindle (3). <IMAGE>
