PURPOSE:To exchange easily work rolls in a short time and to improve productivity by separating a rolling material from the work rolls with the aids of small deflector rolls, at the time of exchanging the work rolls and roll chocks, in the rolling formed by combining >=3 work rolls and deflector rolls. CONSTITUTION:In the rolling of turning the direction of a rolling stock S by work rolls 3-6 and deflector rolls 25, 28, small deflector rolls 23, 24, 26, 27, 29, 30 are used so as not to change the direction of stock S at the works rolls 3-6. At the time of exchanging the work rolls; a rolling reduction cylinder 21 and a pushing-up cylinder 17 are released, and cylinders 33, 34 are further actuated to open the gaps between the work rolls 3-6 to separate them from the stock S. Thereafter, the work rolls 3-6 and roll chocks 7-10 are drawn out by the guide wheels 11-14 of the projecting parts 7a-10a of roll chocks 7-10 to exchange the work rolls 3-6. Thus, the efficiency of rolling operation is enhanced by reducing the time of roll exchange.
