PURPOSE:To effectively suppress an initial injection rate and reduce NOX in exhaust, by connecting a branch pipe, which encloses its point end and provides a predetermined length, with an injection pipe in its half way reaching an injection valve from an injection pump. CONSTITUTION:A branch pipe 4 is connected with an injection pipe 3 in its half way reaching an injection valve 2 from an injection pump 1. Said branch pipe 4 is constituted by a pipe enclosing its point end and having a predetermined length. A fuel injection device, applying to the injection valve 2 a resultant pressure generated by the pressure directly propagated from the injection pump 1 and the pressure reflected by the branch pipe 4, increases the pressure (injection rate) of fuel. In this way, NOX in exhaust can be reduced by enabling the initial injection rate to be effectively suppressed.
