CONSTITUTION:When an engine is operated, a control device 15, in accordance with an output from an air flow meter 2 and a crank angle sensor 7, calculates a basic fuel injection quantity Pt. Next the device, when a crank angle is 15 deg. after the top dead center of compression (crank angle with a pressure in a cylinder increasing maximum), measures a pressure Pb in the cylinder at this time from the output of a pressure sensor 13 to be stored in memory. Next the device, calculating ration (Pb/Pt) of said value Pb to Pt be stored, compares the ratio with a value in the preceding time. And the device controls air-fuel ratio to be changed further to a rich side, in a condition that a value in this time is larger further with rich air-fuel ratio, while to a lean side in a condition that the value in this time is smaller further with rich air-fuel ratio.
