In order to be able to cast articles from plaster of Paris or similar materials in a single operation, the top side and bottom side of which are designed in a relief-like manner, two thermoplastically formed (thermoformed) plastics sheets, which are angled at 90 DEG all round, are fitted one inside the other with tight joints, producing a cavity. An opening is cut into the upper part, through which opening the casting composition is cast into the cavity until the latter is completely filled. The casting moulds can be round, oval, rectangular or polygonal in plan view.
