PURPOSE:To control the generation of spatter by passing alternately the arc current of low level that hardly melts the arc current of higher level than mean current and consumable electrode in the arc weld using shielded gas. CONSTITUTION:A transistor control circuit 9 compares the signal of the output current detected by current detector 8 based on the signal of shunt 7 and the current signal set by high level arc current Ih setter 12 or low level arc current IL setter 13. And the signal for controlling transistor 2 is generated so as to obtain the prescribed output current. The setter 11 of the generating time tL of the IL and the generating time th of the Ih changes over a shifting switch 10 to Ih setter 12, IL setter 13 according to the time of th, tL. The CO2 arc welding having nearly no generation of spatters is thus performed.
