PURPOSE:To improve the characteristic and to make the assembling process easy by bonding a coupler and a support wire to the center position in the broadwise direction of a constant elastic metallic plate so as to suppress a spurious vibration due to the broadwise longitudinal vibration. CONSTITUTION:A composite vibrator 10 is constitute by bonding a piezoelectric element 1 made of a rectangular ceramic utilizing the lateral effect having a residual polarization in the broadwise direction and the constant elasticity metallic plates 3, 11 having the same shape as the element 1 to both opposite faces in the broadwise direction of the element 1. A notch 12 having a depth corresponding to a half of the width of the plate 11 and winder slightly than the width of the coupling wire 14 and the support wire 15 is formed to a part of the constant elastic metallic plate 11, where the coupling wire 14 and the support wire 15 are provided. The effect by broadwise longitudinal vibration itself is eliminated by bonding the support wire 15 and the coupling wire 14 made of the constant elastic metal to the central position in the broadwise direction of the composite vibrator 13 opposed to the notch 12 of the composite vibrator 10 (contact position of the basic mode of the broadwise longitudinal vibration).
