PURPOSE:To attain communication of plural procedures through one line by providing a character transition table stored with an address of a program module to be executed in the unit of each transmission/reception characters so as to change the transition module. CONSTITUTION:An address K1 is read from a program module designation information storage section 17-1 and a corresponding program module 10-1 is executed. Then an address K2 is read from a designation information storage section 17-2 and a corresponding program module 10-2 is executed. Similarly, an address Kn is read from the last information storage section 17-n and the corresponding final program module 10-n is executed. After the execution of the last program module 10-n, the program does not return to the program module group 10, the control is moved to a shared control program section 19 and transits to the next character request interruption waiting state. Then a character request interruption is generated and when a character data 20 to be processed is generated, the operation similar to above are executed repetitively.
