PURPOSE:To obtain a simple constitution by providing a detecting means which measures interference fringes of a reflected light to detect the output state of a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:In the state where a rotary cylinder 17 is driven by a rotation driving mechanism omitted in the figure in a structure 10, a strobe controller 15 is so adjusted that the light emitted from a strobe 14 is synchronized with the rotation of the rotary cylinder 17, and this light is irradiated to a sliding magnetic tape 25 through an objective lens 12, a transmission hole 26, and a detecting part 24 of a detecting member 21. This light is reflected on the magnetic tape 25 and passes a reflecting surface 242 of the detecting part 24 and the objective lens 12 and is observed on an eyepiece lens 11 as interference fringes 19, and they are photographed by a camera 18, and interference fringes 19 and the output of the other magnetic head (omitted in the figure) of the rotary cylinder 17 are compared and detected to evaluate the contacting state between the detecting part 24 and the magnetic tape 25, and the head touch (an extent of projection or the like) is adjusted. Thus, an optimum condition of the head touch is obtained.
