PURPOSE:To obtain a secondary battery having high energy density by using acetylene high polymer obtained by polymerization of pure acetylene in a positive electrode and/or a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:Acetylene high polymer obtained by polymerization of 99.99% or more acetylene is used in a positive electrode and/or a negative electrode. Ziegler-Natta catalyst comprising a transition metal compound and an organic metal compound can be used as a catalyst for producing acetylene high polymer. A secondary battery using this acetylene high polymer has long cycle life, high energy density, low self discharge, flat discharge voltage, and good charge- discharge efficiency. The battery is suitable for portable appliances, electric car, gasoline car, and power storage since it is compact and light weight and has high energy density. |
