PURPOSE:To perform mixing agitation sufficiently by rotating a magnetic roller in the opposite direction of a developer conveyance direction during development, and carrying out a developer and rotating the magnetic roller continuously until a cavity part is formed at the upper part of an empty chamber when the developing operation is stopped. CONSTITUTION:When a main motor stops, a developing sleeve 10 and a toner supply blade 23 stop rotating. The motor is stopped a time T later and the rotation of the magnetic roller 11 is stopped. At this point of time, a new developer reservoir F is formed in front of the 2nd partition plate 14 at the upstream side of the empty chamber 15 and the cavity part E where there is no developer as large as the developer reservoir is formed at the upper part in the empty chamber 15. Then, a developing device is put in operation and the developing sleeve 10 and magnetic roller 11 are both rotated, so that the developer in the developer reservoir F is carried in the empty chamber 15 with a strong conveying force based upon the rotation of the developing sleeve in the direction of an arrow (b) in addition to a weak conveying force based upon the rotation of the magnetic roller 11 in the direction of an arrow (b). |
