PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a magnetic layer by coating a magnetic paint formed by mixing and dispersing magnetic metallic powder with a resin curable by radiation on a substrate then curing the coating by radiation thereby forming the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic metallic powder is subjected to a dispersion treatment with a compd. having no radiation sensitive group, then the powder is mixed and dispersed with a binder resin contg. the resin curable by radiation to prepare the magnetic paint. Such magnetic paint is coated on the substrate and thereafter the radiation is irradiated thereon to cure the resin curable by radiation. The radiation sensitive group of the resin curable by radiation is thereby effectively prevented from being attacked by the magnetic metallic powder which is fine and has an extremely active surface. The magnetic metallic powder is thus substantially and uniformly dispersed and the resin curable by radiation is thoroughly crosslinked and bound, by which the durability of the magnetic layer is improved.
