PURPOSE:To shorten the queuing time for motor start by outputting a medium detection signal indicating that the start of the work is possible by the signal from a detecting means and the signal from a host-side control means. CONSTITUTION:The seek operation can be executed immediately in a host computer 2 when a medium detection signal 23 is inputted, and the road operation and the write operation can be executed when the rotation number of a motor reaches a certain value and an objective ID on a floppy disc is read. If a motor turn-on signal is transmitted preliminarily and a select signal is inputted to a floppy disc driving device 1 in the state where the floppy disc is inserted, the execution is started when a ready signal is detected by the computer 2. Thus, at the motor start time, the queuing time for disc insertion is shortened to a minimum.
