Prepn. of 4'-(2-carboxyethyl)-phenyl- trans-4-aminomethyl cyclohexane carboxylates of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts comprises reacting a trans-4-aminomethyl cyclohexane carbonyl halide of formula (II) with a 4-hydroxyphenyl propionate ester of formula (III). The intermediate produced is then hydrolysed. In the formulae, X = halo; R1 = opt. substd. 1-6C alkyl, aryl, 1-6C alkoxy or NH2; R2 = H, 1-6C alkyl, aryl, acyl, (1-6C alkoxy)carbonyl or CN.
