PURPOSE:To operate efficiently a low frequency induction furnace by performing the control to keep an impressed power at a rated power in accordance with the deviation between the impressed power of the induction furnace and the rated power. CONSTITUTION:The adjustment of the output voltage of a transformer 12, the adjustment of the capacity of parallel capacitors, or the combinational adjustment of both of them is used to perform such power control in accordance with the deviation between the output voltage of the transformer 12 and the rated power of an induction coil 10 that the deviation is suppressed to zero. Thus, the output power of the transformer 12 is allowed to approach the rated power in a short time, and the output power of the transformer 12 is kept at the rated power. Consequently, the time required for melting is shortened to improve the melting capability, and the loss of the energy required for cooling of the furnace wall or the like and a melting electric energy unit are reduced.
