METHOD FOR TESTING SCREENING FOR OPTICAL FIBER

PURPOSE:To collect intensity distribution data on an optical fiber by detecting the rupture position of the optical fiber through a rupture position detecting means or detecting the rupture strength of the optical fiber through a rupture intensity detecting means when the optical fiber is ruptured. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 16 which runs from a supply machine 1 to a take-up machine 7 has a part with lower strength than a permissible part and is ruptured when guided to a tensile strength application testing mechanism 10, and its rupture sound is collected. Respective acoustic wave sensors 11, 12, and 13 are fitted at different positions, so the sound reaches the acoustic wave sensors at different arrival time. Arrival time differences of the rupture sound are processed electrically and electronically to detect and record the rupture position of the optical position.
