PURPOSE:To relieve the load of a host controller by using a means for receiving a recalibrate instruction to initialize the control state of a variable frequency oscillation circuit when an error of an access system in the titled device is detected and the calibrate instruction is sent from the host device. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed signal from the host controller 1 is expanded by decoder circuits 311, 312, an AND circuit 316 takes AND condition signals expanded by the decoder circuits 311, 312 to output a recalibrate instruction 1. The recalibrate instruction 1 and a power-on reset signal 3 outputted from the circuit of a magnetic disc device 2 are ORed by an OR circuit 315 to generate a reset signal FLTSQ2, which is sent to a VFO circuit 42a. Thus, the recalibrate instruction 1 initializes an access control section 32, an access error detection section 33 and a shake control section 41 and initializes the VFO circuit 42a in a read/write control section 42 at the same time. Then the error recovery means of the magnetic disc device viewed from the host controller is simplified and the load of the host controller is relieved.
