PURPOSE:To use effectively a recording medium face while keeping the excellence of a conventional system by assembing a gimbal of cunti-lever structure in opposite direction to a conventional assembling so as to improve the floating stability of an outer rail. CONSTITUTION:The gimbal 13 of cunti-lever structure is assembled in opposite direction to a conventional assembling by utilizing the difference of the floating stability between both floating rails 16 and 17 of a heat slider 12 fixed to the gimbal 13 and a thin film magnetic head element having a structure formed at the rear end of the floating rails. The cunti- lever structure gimbal 13 fixed with the head slider 12 is assembled with a compression spring 7 so that it cunti-lever free end 14 is directed to a spacer 6. The arrow 15 shows the direction of turning center of a recording medium and the recording/reproduction is executed by the thin film magnetic head element formed at the rear end of the outer rail 16. Thus, a caption L1 shown in figure indicates a maximum usable region, an L2' depicts a data region and an L3 shows a CSS region and also a region M' is a non-use region, then the non-use region is reduced to M' from the region M so as to use very effectively the medium face. The cunti-lever structure gimbal is assembled in opposite direction to the conventional assembling to as to improve the floating stability of the outer rail thereby using the recording medium face effectively while keeping the excellence of the conventional gimbal system.
