The invention relates to a foam-forming composition for cleaning carpets and carpeting. This composition is conditioned in a pressure container and has, on the one hand, a part which is not a propellant, which contains 45 to 75 % by weight of water, 25 to 50 % by weight of at least one volatile lower alcohol (isopropanol) and 1 to 10 % by weight of one or more surface-active agents soluble in the aqueous-alcoholic phase, these percentages being based on the total weight of the part which is not a propellant. On the other hand, this composition contains a propellant which consists of a liquefied gas or a mixture of liquefied gases (butane, Freon 12), which are so readily soluble in the aqueous-alcoholic phase that the composition can be delivered as a liquid and that the foam is only later formed by the action of the gas propellant remaining dissolved in the alcohol(s) on the surface-active agents. The relative proportions by weight of the part which is not a propellant to the propellant are between 90:10 to 65:35. The vapour pressure of the composition according to the invention is 1.5 to 8 bar at 25 DEG C.
|
