PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound economically on an industrial scale, by reacting an amino sugar derivative with an acylation agent consisting of a carboxylic acid-methylthiophosphinic acid mixed acid anhydride in an anhydrous solvent in the presence of a base, thereby selectively acylating only the amino group of the amino sugar. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound is produced by reacting an amino sugar derivative with a carboxylic acid-dimethylthiophosphinic acid mixed acid anhydride of formula [R is (substituted) alkyl or aryl] derived from a carboxylic acid (preferably having hydroxyl group) and a dimethylphosphinothioyl halide, in an anhydrous solvent (e.g. THF) in the presence of a base (preferably a tertiary amine such as diisopropylethylamine, etc.).
