PURPOSE:An optical fiber drawer in which the top end of a new optical fiber preform is adhered to the back end of the preform which is now being drawn by pressing to enable continuous drawing of optical fiber preform. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber preform 1A sent out of the feeder 2 is heated in the heater 3 and drawn into an optical fiber 6. when the back end of the preform 1 reaches down to a prescribe point, another preform 1B is held with the pull-down means 9 so that the preform 1B is kept coincidal to the preform 1A. At this state, the back end and the top end are heated up to a prescribed temperature with burners 11 and 12 and the preform 1B is allowed to come down in the direction C for adhesion. Then, the pull-down means is disengaged. These operations are repeated to effect continuous drawing of optical fiber reform 1. |
