<p>The process comprises reacting triethyl orthoformate with hydrazide of 1-cyanoformidic acid in dioxane soln. satd. with anhydrous hydrogen chloride at about 0 deg.C. Sepn. of the mixt. and purificn. of the 3-cyano-1,2,4-triazol formed, followed by reaction with triethanolamine in alcohol soln. of gaseous hydrogen sulphide, gives 1,2,4-triazol- 3-thiocarboxamide. - This in turn yields the sodium salt through reaction with e.g. sodium hydroxide. - 1,2,4-triazol-3-carboxamide is also obtd. by reacting methyl 1,2,4-triazol-3-carboxylate with ammonia.</p> |
