Mobile aircraft landing arrester units

The aircraft landing arrester gear consists of two identical mobile traiter mounted energy absorbing systems. The trailers have two bars and retractable wheels and they are positioned either side of a runway. Each trailer has a hydraulically operated telescopic mast which may be raised to carry the upper suspension wire for an aircraft catching net . - Shear links connect the cable to anchored guy wines. An energy absorbing brake drum is connected to the lower arrester cable. Anchorage points are provided along the sides of the trailers and via guy wires to anchorages. When the masts are folded away the net may be replaced with a single wire for arrester hook catchment.
