PURPOSE:To obtain a compsn. which does not allow flame retarder to be evaporated and has excellent moldability, heat resistance and mechanical strength, by blending a biphenyl phosphate compd. with a compsn. contg. a polyphenylene ether resin. CONSTITUTION:A resin compsn. is obtd. by blending a biphenyl phosphate compd. of the formula with a polyphenylene ether resin (a) or a resin compsn. contg. component (a) and a polystyrene resin (b). In the formula, X is 0, 1,2; R5 is a 1-8C straight-chain or branched alkyl, phenyl, naphtyl. Mono- or bisphenyl phosphate compds. where X is 1 or 2, R5 is phenyl or alkyl-substd. phenyl and trisbiphenyl phosphate compds. where X is 0 are preferred. The resin compsn. may contain various additives, filler, elastomer, etc., according to the purpose of use.
