<p>A pneumatic transport and distribution system injects air entrained pulverised coal into the tuyeres of a blast furnace. A cylindrical distributor has an inlet in the base, fed through a vertical conduit, of non-circular, i.e. polygonal, rectangular or square cross-section. The length of the conduit must be at least 222 times its hydraulic radius, and it must end less than 55 times the hydraulic radius below the inlet. The deviation in the distribution pattern of entrained particles, at outlets around the periphery of the distributor, is at least 5% less than the average sample deviation with a circular inlet duct of the same cross-sectional area.</p> |
