PURPOSE:To make it possible to substantially reduce the floor space for a machine tool for plate shaped workpiece by providing a workpiece supply side and workpiece collection side at both sides of a workpiece machining table so as to transfer workpieces in one way in a horizontal plane. CONSTITUTION:A machining head 21 is arranged above a machining table 17 and is provided with a rotary drive mechanism for a machining tool. A slider 27 is arranged above the table 17 in the direction opposite to a saddle 19 and shuttles in the direction parallel to the direction of the travel of the saddle 19. A transfer jaw 34 is fitted as to be capable of vertical moving in relation to the slider 27. And a workpiece supply magazine 44 can keep a plurality of workpieces W arranged at one end side of the table 17 above the direction of the shuttle travel of the slider 27. In addition, a workpiece collection magazine 46 has a capacity to keep a plurality of workpieces W arranged at another end side of the table 17.
