A main frame of a soil cultivator or a sowing machine has two longitudinal members, each for support of a side frame. The longitudinal members are formed from tubes of rectangular cross-section and are attached to the tractor by a fitting (30) with a forked end (32). - The body (34) of the fitting has a narrow rhomboid cross-section which can fit inside the longitudinal member. The body of the fitting has two spherical bosses (36) to receive the fixing bolts which pass through the longitudinal member.
