Catalytic dewaxing of heavy oils

Dewaxing of petroleum feeds with an initial b.pt. of at least 700 deg.F and a 50 vol.% b.pt. of at least 900 deg.F is effected by reaction with H2 at 450-800 deg.F in the presence of a catalyst comprising (a) a zeolite with a SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of more than 12 and a constraint index of 1-12 and (b) an inorganic oxide binder. The catalyst has a max. diffusion distance of less than 0.6 mm (i.e. all points in the catalyst particles are less than 0.6 mm from the particle surface).
