The reciprocating compressor is particularly for brake air on a motor vehicle and regulates the quantity delivered, with an external lubricating oil pump included. The latter delivers from a storage tank, there being a return pipe to the latter from the enclosed crankcase. - The return pipe (10) slopes downwards to the lower-level storage tank (7), to incorporate an automatic non-return valve (11). This prevents flow towards the crankcase (9) of the compressor (3).
